Artist’s Statement
When we look at a painting and are convinced that it lives, we know the artist exists. Artists bring paintings into being. Paintings do the same for the artist.
The primary skill in painting is to bring yourself. Ask the question, "Why do I paint?" When you can answer the question, paint more!
Inspiration derives from Marsden Hartley and Banksy for being so bold. Mark Rothko, Josef Alpers and Senzo Wada for color that takes the viewer on a journey. Paul Klee plays. Mark Tobey's early work is shamanic. The women have been there all along. Rosa Bonheur. Georgia O'Keefe. Alice Neel. Lee Krasner. Christina Ramberg.
